With 105 degree heat on I-5, we pulled a Plan B move and headed for the Oregon coast once again.  Before doing so, we stopped to see Mr. Hughes' Spruce Goose.  Located in the Evergreen Aviation Museum, it is easy to see how Howard thought big and was a bit on the loony side.  Note the photo of the tail section.  That's a B-17 Flying Fortress underneath the tail!  One of your larger bombers of WWII dwarfed by Howard's imagination.  Pretty cool.  Now here's Anne on the cape.  bkh

I looked and looked for Leonardo Di Caprio near the Spruce Goose, but never found him so we headed to the ocean.  We got a campsite at Cape Lookout State Park which was located just a few hundred feet off the ocean.  After a few beers Brian was feeling photogenic, enjoy.

The next morning we had to drive through the town of Tillamook on our way to Mt. Hood.  Imagine my surprise and excitement when I found out that Tillamook is home to the largest cheese factory in the state!  And they have free tours and samples!  Yahoo!  It was fascinating, and they have the best extra sharp white cheddar cheese I've ever eaten.  Now here's Brian on Mt. Hood.  Anne

We drove by the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood.  Stopped by a fish hatchery and a waterfall.  I ran to get the picture of the train and waterfall.  We then headed to Washington so we could pump our own gas.  (not sure if someone burned down a gas station in OR, but you can't pump your own gas.  Come on OR, get into the 21st century)  bkh
